"A FOREST PATHWAY" BY HAL ROBINSON (1875-1933)
In oil on canvas, signed lower left "Hal Robinson"
Item # 1402MLW09PZ
A soft blend of sepia pigments against maroons and creams beneath a violet highlighted sky, this work composes a seamless harmony of tones and light refraction along a lightly forested pathway, the churning tones of a serpentine stream visible in the distance. Despite it's obvious impressionistic influences, the level of detail is quite notable, each branch and hue of foliage pigment crisply detailed in his bold and distinctive brush strokes. It evokes an emotional response to what could be a simple landscape in the hands of a lesser artist, capturing the essence of an undisturbed woods of untamed naturalism, the roots and foliage sprawling chaotically as a simple roughed path meanders along.
