JEAN LORMIER
French, 20th century
Figural Lamp of a Woman Holding a Lamp
Patinated bronze figure, brass candlestick, marble base | Signed verso "J. LORMIER" | circa 1930
Item # 208YIJ18K
A very finely cast bronze figural lamp modeled by Jean Lormier, it features a stylized female with crisply cast fingers and toes, her stylized hair swirling around the features of her face while her eyes are locked on the lamp raised in the palms of her hand. She is finished in an old silvered finish while a draped garment cast over her shoulder cascades before and behind her, this finished in an overall dark brown chemical patination. The lamp originally would have been covered in a frosted glass shade, this since lost; we had our in-house metalsmith fabricate a solid bronze candle well, threaded to match the original threads of the light and left in a high-polish untouched surface.
The reverse of the garment is signed "J. LORMIER". An incredibly fine Deco period model.

The lamp originally would have had a frosted glass shade, this now absent. The brass candlestick held by the figure is custom fabricated by our in-house specialist and is a high quality element. Lighting tested and works beautifully. A fine polished surface.
