About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

CESARE CONSTANTINO CERIBELLI
Italian, 1841-1918

"Bust of Bianca"

Polychromed cold-painted together with chemical patina | bronze | signed verso "C. Ceribelli" and titled "Bianca" on front of integral socle | raised on original rouge marble

Item # 307YQX19Z

This exceptionally well-cast bust is a most refined presentation with it’s overall ruby-red cold-painted surface against the medium brown translucent chemical ptaina of her skin. The figure is exquisitely cast with intricate chiseling work throughout the decorations of her garment with crisp definition of the tiny elements throughout and a very smooth high-polish to the skin and socle. The figure, identified as “Bianca" on the placard on the integral plinth, is a powerful female figure with a soft and confident gaze filled with both determination and a sense of competence; her head is held high as her eyes look forward unfazed by what lies ahead.  Her garment is naturally the most eye-catching element with its complex and highly detailed motifs. The model is raised over the original rouge marble on a beveled bronze rim.

Measurements: 24 1/2" H (including base) x 22" H (bronze only); base is 7 1/2" W x 7 1/2" D

Condition Report:
Trace wear to the original patina throughout, overall remaining in very fine original condition. An incredibly beautiful ready-to-place presentation.
