About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

ENGLISH PATINATED ELM LONG TRESTLE BENCH
Two available | 18th century with restorations
Item # 305TBP10L-2

An incredibly beautiful bench, we acquired this as part of a pair (the other possibly still available in our inventory under item # 305TBP10L-1) and they are being offered separately. It makes an extraordinary accent piece for a long entryway or hallway, at the end of a king sized bed or if both benches are purchased they work beautifully as intended: as seating for a trestle table of similar vintage. It has clearly been enjoyed actively for centuries and retains incredibly vibrant surface history that has resulted in a silky glowing patina throughout. A rare form.

Measurements: 17 5/8" H x 14 1/2" D (at feet) x 6" D (at seat) x 68 7/8" W

Condition Report:
The bench has a slight warp that results in the need of a furniture pad under two feet to level it. Feet are very heavily worn with losses. Various  restorations. Heavily worn and patinated surface.
