About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

MODERN BRUSHED STEEL CUBE LOUNGE CHAIR
In recent red naughahyde, circa late 20th century

A very nice modern lounge chair crafted of welded brushed flatbar steel in cube form. Distinctly reminiscent of the designs of Milo Baughman, the machining and exquisite upholstery work are quite refined and striking.  Recessed screws affix the molded back and seat base to the steel frame, this with very nicely welded joints and finishing. The loose back cushion and integral seat cushion bring comfort and support to the austere form.  A very high quality faux-leather material was used to upholster the chairs, likely in the last few years.  It is an incredibly attractive and well made piece.

Measurements:  27 1/4" W x 30 3/4" D x 29 3/4" H, 14 1/4" H to seat

Condition Report:
Traces of oxidization to steel.  Rather recent upholstery in excellent condition with only minor use indicators (slight stretching to seat, touches of discoloration to back).
