GOTHIC REVIVAL DOVETAILED WALNUT HALL BENCH
United States, circa 1890; with a wonderful early oxidized surface
Item # 209HOE29P
A very interesting settee from the last decade of the nineteenth century, this wonderful example is executed in solid walnut and retains a very early beautifully oxidized surface throughout. The joinery is so fun with huge butterfly dovetails locking together the tenon-mortised joints in many areas; there are also a host of through-tenon-mortised joints locked with small wedged pins that add to the texture of the settee. The arms, sides of the seat, legs and stiles are beveled to soften the severe angles. A wonderful visual strikepoint for the hallway.
Measurements: 34 3/8" H x 20 1/2" D x 55" W; 15 3/4" H to seat
