Jumping Goat (1921), a bookend
Verdigris & overall brown patinated bronze over verde marble bases | signed in cast "M. PROST" and dated 1921
Item # 208GUT11L
A very nice modeling of a young goat rooted on its backlegs as its body spins in the air, raising its hooves and lowering its head in that familiar playful jumping dance. Designed as a bookend and generally offered in pairs, the present example is a superb casting with a rich verdigris surface patina over an overall dark brown. It is raised on a stepped verde marble base. The base is signed "M. PROST 1921", the signature captured directly from the mold without evidence of cold-tooling required by the foundry.
