KINETIC ORGANIC MODERNISM SCULPTURE OF BEE ON FLOWERS
Probably United States | unsigned, circa 1960
ref. 501MJR28P
13 1/2" H x 7 1/8" D x 9 5/8" W
This mid-century kinetic sculpture depicts a cluster of flowering stems with a single bee resting on one of the blossoms. The beautifully formed petals are enameled with pearl and gold tones on the flowers and a verdigris patina on the stems and leaves. It is meant to be engaged with in the same way the bee is interacting with the flowers below - the sculpture moves and sways like grass in the breeze as you touch or shift it.
Condition:
Wear to the verdigris patina along the stems along with rubbing and oxidization throughout. Light chipping and wear to the enamel of the petals. Only minimally cleaned, presents with trace surface grime and discoloration.
