A MID-CENTURY POLISHED BRASS EIGHT-LIGHT CHANDELIER
Designed by Gaetano Sciolari ca. 1970 | unmarked
Item # 311JBP02P
This sleek and austere chandelier is a quintessential representation of Gaetano Sciolari's design ethos from the 1970s. It features a high-polished brass body of remarkably good quality, the reflective surfaces creating a great deal of fullness in all of the negative space. The frosted glass globes diffuse the light beautifully to create a warm interior ambiance that is easy to live in. The design elements reflect a balance between the geometric and the organic, a testament to Sciolari's ability to encapsulate the forward-looking spirit of the time while delivering functional art.
The chandelier has been meticulously restored, all elements disassembled completely and carefully polished out, the result being a nearly pristine presentation. The wiring has been checked carefully throughout during the disassembly process and remains ready to place.
It is worth noting that we have left the brass unsealed to allow it to naturally patinate over time slowly - this can be sealed with lacquer upon request to arrest the process, though we love the slow changes that can naturally occur to the brass when left to oxidize in the air.
Measurements: 27 3/4" H x 18 1/8" D x 22" W (approx. bulb to bulb) - the height can be adjusted slightly down and that alteration can be performed in-house prior to shipping upon request (or performed by your lighting professional)
Condition Report:
Very fine condition, no observed flaws. Includes new LED lightbulbs. Naturally this is designed to be wired directly into a box by your electrician so no plug is included.
