About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

WORN MODERNIST WHITE-OAK TUB CHAIR
Circa mid-20th century, unmarked
Item # 306WQP27M

One of our personal favorites currently in the shop is this exceptional modernist tub chair. It showcases a solid oak structure with a captivating patina, boasting open curving and tapered arms. These arms not only retain their historical surface but also infuse warmth into the overall design. The chair is elegantly upholstered in a faux-leather vinyl that remains in excellent condition.

Remarkably well-built and substantial in weight, it is crafted to endure numerous lifetimes. The chair remarkably comfortable. It serves exceptionally well as a stylish office chair, a delightful reading chair in a study, or as an outstanding accent piece when used as an occasional chair in living spaces.

Measurements: 28" H x 27" W x 22 3/8" D x 16 1/4" H to seat

Condition Report:
Blue vinyl in very good condition with a three tiny tack holes along the upper edge of the back of the chair. Heavily worn and stained oak arms and legs with a nicely developed patina. Very well-built, sturdy and comfortable.
