About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

"SHAMROCK" OAK, BRUSHED AND POLISHED ALLOY DINING TABLE OR DESK
Designed by George Ciancimino for Jens Risom circa 1970s | unmarked
Item # 802PVK24S

A lively and beautifully made table that could be used either as a minimalist executive desk or as a dining table, was designed by George Ciancimino for Jens Risom in the 1970s. Ciancimino designed many pieces in this line, including several versions with full collections of drawers for a more complete desk.

The brilliant grain of the oak veneered top is recessed into the brushed metal frame, these coming together with a perfect joint against the inset shamrock legs. The natural wood against the metal is a very nice juxtaposition that softens the material and makes it warm. This example works beautifully as both an executive desk or as a smaller dining table.

Measurements:  72 1/4 W x 37 1/4 D x 28 1/2 H

Condition Report:
A few spots of ding and surface flaws to the oak; numerous scuffs and abrasions to polished legs and apron; sturdy and very strong.
