PAIR OF MODERN TUBULAR CHROMED STEEL LOUNGE CHAIRS
With original leatherette sling seats over canvas; unmarked, probably circa 3rd quarter of 20th century
Item # 109KIO18P
Likely crafted during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in the Bauhaus taste, this super sleek and fun pair of modern lounge chairs are of remarkable quality and craftsmanship. The tubular chromed steel is bent in an endless undulation to include the raised arm supports. Note the absence of any seams, the tubular steel flowing in an endless circle due to the very finely welded and polished joints. The tubes are heavy grade and the chairs have substance despite the petite profile. The upholstery is original and is a very intelligent design with simple cording on the underside stretching the sling seat, the wrap around the front and back bars locking into a hook on either side to create some tension and still allow the upholstery to be removed.
Measurements: 26 3/4" H x 27 3/8" D x 23 1/4" W; 14 1/4" H to seat
Condition Report:
Leatherette in good condition with only minor discolorations and old creasing throughout; chrome overall in good condition and appears to be free of pitting; minor trace oxidization throughout; age appropriate wear and scuffing to chrome; a few very small dents in the tubes; two rear plastic "feet" absent on one chair. Very comfortable and supportive.
