About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

PAIR OF MOROCCAN VIBRANTLY PAINTED THREE-PANEL INTERIOR DOORS
19th century
Item # 306RGT14P

For the room where color, texture and historical surface are needed to bring the space to life, this incredibly vibrant pair of painted Moroccan doors are a wonderfully playful strikepoint. The estate we acquired them from had the pair installed as hanging wall panels to showcase the geometrical and beautifully fractal painted panels, though they would be brilliant interior doors for the right spot - naturally some professional retrofitting would probably be needed to make them work, but they are positively stunning and are defining pieces. Probably circa mid-to-late 19th century.

Measurements: 78 5/8" H x 42 3/8" W [approx. for both doors], 21" W for one door, 21 1/4" W for the other door; 1 3/8" D

Condition Report:
Old painted surface, probably mostly original though not examined under UV for inpainting/etc. Worn paint throughout exposing the underlying red ground and the underlying wood. Shrinkage cracks in the wood and shrinkage gaps in the recessed door panels; all hardware missing.
