About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

VINTAGE BRASS AND GLASS TWO-TIER BAR-CART
Circa 1970s, with a brutalist etched brass top
Item # 209TZW22P

A wonderful vintage two-tier bar cart designed almost entirely of brass, the cart is large and incredibly sturdy for actual functional use in the home without fear of tipping or damage. The top is designed from a solid piece of brass that is beautifully acid-etched for a chaotic brutalist effect; this is particularly nice as it allows for rough and carefree handling of drinks, the surface being impervious to damage and highly resistance to scuffing. We left the natural oxidized patina throughout the brass exactly as we found it, because personally I love tarnished and oxidized brass - however, we are happy to fully polish it out and bring it back to the original condition upon request. The lower level features a sheet of clear glass and the cart rests over original oversized castors.

Measurements: 31 7/8" H x 21 5/8" D x 34 1/2" W

Condition Report:
Wonderful old patina throughout the brass; some brass polish residue in crevices of the top along with some slightly brighter brass where someone did an amateur cleaning job; the brass throughout has been left in its estate as-is condition because we love tarnished brass, but we can clean and polish the brass to whatever level is requested by the client.
